Mentorship PRogram

We The Industry’s Mentorship Program is the realisation of the association's third mission — 'to support aspiring theatre professionals in their studies through mentorship'. The program connects arts students studying in Australia's tertiary institutions with industry professionals who volunteer their time to offer one-on-one mentorship.

In 2021, We The Industry formed a valuable connection with the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), and worked with the institution to deliver a pilot of the program. Mentorship was offered to students studying in their final year across various disciplines. The aim was to provide each student with personalised support as they transitioned from study into the industry. The pilot saw 11 matches made and facilitated relationships that still exist beyond the framework of the program. As the program grows, We The Industry hopes it can connect students from all over the country with mentors working in the arts and offer support to students as they move both in and out of their tertiary education.
